Pascal's wader
Pascal’s reflexions upon the nature of the motion of a wading bird were aroused by the sight of a long-billed stork (the stuffed bird could still be observed in the Museum in Paris, France, but it has been shown that it was not a different species from Ciconia ciconia, the white stork).
An fr:opuscule that was printed in the Netherlands is extant, that allows us to partake the depths of his insights upon that question. From memory only, I can tell that it was premonitory of Ferenczi’s works Thalassa: A Theory of Genitality. The utter desire to return to the primitive ocean, and so on.
There are also bright passages about Archimedes’ law, and charts giving the difficulty to begin a flight when immersed, in correlation to the depth of the immersion.
If that content is verifiable I'll create the WP:stub.
